I have tryed both of them and I was using joomla at first, but never liked it very much

And then found wordpress.

WordPress is much lighter and faster then joomla and that is why wordpress is most popular blogging platform.

Joomla lost the war so they turned more to commercial side since wordpress is default blogging platform.

WordPress can also look commercial if you choose the right template.

It is much easier to find a commercial templates for joomla and that is why most designers use it.

I would never go back to joomla since wordpress is much better and faster and i find more interesting plugins for wordpress + wordpress is much faster.
